Why do I have so many mosquitoes?
Standing water. Standing water is a big problem with customers having mosquitoes. Mosquitoes love to lay their eggs in standing water and that’s typically why most customers have mosquito issues.
How can I prevent mosquitoes?
One of the first things as a homeowner that you can do is get rid of as much moisture around the property as possible, such as old flower pots, make sure your gutters are drained properly, old tires, bird baths, fish ponds with stagnated water in them. I’ve been to a lot of customers’ properties to where they have fish ponds, no fish in them but algae and everything growing in them and just mosquito larvae all in that area. So getting rid of the standing water is definitely going to reduce the risk of you having a mosquito problem.
How can I get rid of mosquitoes?
You can use citronella candles. Mosquitoes definitely don’t like that. Have your outdoor seating areas with some type of tent with mosquito netting. That tends to be proven for homeowners to be comfortable while they’re trying to enjoy the outdoors.
What happens during a mosquito inspection?
We look for moist and damp areas around the property, standing water from gutters not draining properly. Again, we look for things like old tires and buckets. Just any things that can hold standing water, we try to identify that. And once that’s identified, then we’ll speak with the customer to let them know our findings and what they should do before we can render any type of treatment.
How does Clegg’s get rid of mosquitoes?
We look for the areas of standing water that the customer is not able to get rid of. We have a product, it’s a mosquito dunk that we can put into the standing water that kills the mosquito larvae and it doesn’t harm wildlife, domestic animals, or birds. And then we’ll do a misting treatment around the bushes and the shrubbery and the high moisture areas on the property to reduce the amount of mosquitoes that the customer is experiencing.
Can mosquitoes come back after treatment?
Yes, mosquitoes can come back after treatment. That’s why we recommend a monthly mosquito treatment. Because again, like I said, if it rains and there’s standing water that’s not being attended to, that’s a breeding site for mosquitoes.
Can mosquitoes bite through clothing?
Very thin clothing, possibly, but typically we recommend that if a child or something might be allergic to mosquitoes and they want to enjoy the outdoors, long sleeve, long pants is definitely recommended.
Can swimming pools attract mosquitoes?
If they regular swimming pool is not attended to, yes. Most swimming pools are pretty attended to and have vacuum pumps and things of that nature, and that’s unlikely for you to have a mosquito problem. But pools that’s unattended with stagnated water, you’re definitely going to have some mosquito issues.
Why do I have mosquitoes in my basement?
Typically, most customers who have mosquitoes in the basement, they have some type of pond out back or a low marsh area. Again, standing water. If there’s standing water on the back side of your house, the mosquitoes can get into your basement.
What bugs kill mosquitoes?
Spiders of course kill mosquitoes. Dragonflies kill mosquitoes and crane flies also kills mosquitoes.
